Vanilla cookies

Here’s a simple, classic vanilla cookies recipe—soft in the middle, lightly crisp on the edges, and full of vanilla flavor 🍪


Vanilla Cookies

Ingredients (makes about 20–24 cookies):

  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter & sugar
    • Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add wet ingredients
    • Mix in egg and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Combine dry ingredients
    • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Make the dough
    • Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Shape cookies
    • Roll dough into small balls (about 1 tablespoon each).
    • Place on baking sheet and gently flatten with a fork or fingers.
  7. Bake
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are just lightly golden.
  8. Cool
    • Let cookies cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

Tips for best vanilla cookies:

  • Use real vanilla extract (or vanilla bean paste for extra flavor).
  • For softer cookies, slightly underbake them.
  • Sprinkle a little sugar on top before baking for a sparkly finish.
  • Add chocolate chips or sprinkles if you want variety.
