Sticky honey chicken wings

Posted on December 10, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a perfect Sticky Honey Chicken Wings recipe—crispy, sweet, salty, garlicky, and glazed in a glossy, finger-licking sauce. These can be baked, air-fried, or pan-fried.

🍯 Sticky Honey Chicken Wings

Ingredients (serves 4)

Wings

  • 2–2.5 lbs chicken wings (split into flats & drums)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder (helps crispiness; optional but recommended)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

Sticky Honey Sauce

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (adds color + thickness)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp sriracha or chili flakes (optional for heat)
  • 1 tbsp butter (optional but makes the sauce glossy)

🔥 Instructions

1. Prep the wings

  • Pat wings very dry with paper towels.
  • Toss with baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  • Let sit 10 minutes while the oven heats.

2. Bake or air fry

Oven method

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Place wings on a wire rack over a baking sheet.
  3. Bake 45–50 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.

Air fryer

  • 390°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes, shaking halfway.

3. Make the sticky honey sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat:

  1. Add honey, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, vinegar, and sriracha.
  2. Simmer 3–5 minutes, until slightly thickened and glossy.
  3. Stir in butter at the end (optional).

4. Coat the wings

  • Once wings are crispy, toss them in the warm sauce until fully coated.
  • For extra stickiness: return coated wings to the oven for 5 minutes.

🍽 Serve

Garnish with:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions
  • Extra drizzle of honey if desired

Serve with rice, fries, or just napkins and enthusiasm. 😄

🌟 Variations

  • Garlic Honey Butter Wings – add 2 more tbsp butter + sautéed garlic.
  • Honey Lime Wings – add zest + juice of 1 lime to the sauce.
  • Korean-Style Honey Wings – add 1 tbsp gochujang to the sauce.
  • Extra crispy – coat with 1 tbsp cornstarch instead of baking powder.
