Here’s a simple and delicious way to prepare Smoked Salmon in a Baking Dish — creamy, savory, and perfect for brunch, lunch, or a light dinner. 🐟🔥

🥘 Baked Smoked Salmon Casserole

Best for hot-smoked salmon (flaky style).
If using thin cold-smoked salmon, see note below.

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 8 oz (225g) smoked salmon, flaked
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (Gruyère, cheddar, or mozzarella)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh dill (or parsley)
  • 1 small onion or shallot, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (go light — salmon is salty)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for greasing dish)

🥣 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Butter a medium baking dish.

2️⃣ Layer Salmon

  • Spread flaked smoked salmon evenly in the baking dish.
  • Sprinkle onion and herbs over top.

3️⃣ Make Custard

  • Whisk eggs, cream, milk, pepper, and a small pinch of salt.
  • Stir in half the cheese.

4️⃣ Pour & Top

  • Pour mixture over salmon.
  • Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.

5️⃣ Bake

  • Bake 25–35 minutes, until center is set and top is lightly golden.
  • Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.

🍽️ Serve With

  • Toasted sourdough or bagels
  • Simple green salad
  • Roasted potatoes
  • Steamed asparagus

🌟 Variations

🥔 Add Potatoes

Layer thinly sliced cooked potatoes under the salmon for a heartier dish.

🥬 Add Spinach

Sauté spinach first and add between layers.

🥖 Smoked Salmon Breakfast Bake

Add cubed bread for a strata-style dish.

⚠️ Important Note About Type of Smoked Salmon

  • Hot-smoked salmon → fully cooked and ideal for baking.
  • Cold-smoked salmon (lox style) → delicate; add during last 5–10 minutes of baking to avoid drying out.
