Here’s a simple, hearty slow cooker hamburger dinner recipe that’s easy to prep and perfect for a cozy meal:


Ingredients (4–6 servings)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs (or parsley)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and diced (optional: can also use frozen)
  • 3–4 carrots, sliced
  • 1–2 cups frozen peas (added near the end)

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with onions and garlic until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Combine in slow cooker: Transfer beef mixture to the slow cooker. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add vegetables: Stir in potatoes and carrots.
  4. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until vegetables are tender.
  5. Add peas: About 15 minutes before serving, stir in frozen peas and cook until heated through.
  6. Serve: Spoon onto plates and enjoy hot, optionally with bread or over rice.

  • Use a splash of red wine in the slow cooker for depth.
  • Sprinkle cheese on top just before serving for a comforting touch.
  • For a thicker sauce, mix 1–2 tbsp cornstarch with a little water and stir in during the last 20 minutes of cooking.
