Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Posted on March 5, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a tender, flavorful slow-cooker barbecue ribs recipe that’s simple and foolproof:

🍖 Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Ingredients (for 4 servings)

  • 2–3 lbs (900–1350 g) pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional for smoky flavor)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • ½ cup apple juice or water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ribs
    • Remove the silver skin from the back of the ribs.
    • Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  2. Slow Cooker Setup
    • Place ribs in the slow cooker, standing them on their side if needed.
    • Pour apple juice (or water) around the ribs—not over the seasoning.
  3. Cook Low & Slow
    • Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until meat is tender and almost falling off the bone.
  4. Add Barbecue Sauce
    • Brush ribs generously with barbecue sauce.
    • Optional: Transfer to a baking sheet and broil for 3–5 minutes in the oven for a caramelized finish.
  5. Serve & Enjoy
    • Slice between bones and serve with extra barbecue sauce, coleslaw, or corn on the cob.

Tips for Perfect Slow-Cooker Ribs

  • Tender ribs: Low and slow is key—avoid rushing.
  • Flavor boost: Marinate ribs in your favorite barbecue sauce overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Smoky option: Add a few drops of liquid smoke to the slow cooker if you want a smoked taste without a smoker.
  • Crispy finish: A quick broil or grill after slow cooking adds caramelized edges.

These ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, infused with barbecue flavor, and perfect for weeknight dinners or weekend gatherings.

I can also give a one-step slow cooker recipe that uses store-bought barbecue sauce only for a super quick version with almost zero prep. Do you want me to provide that shortcut recipe?
