Simple Preparation

  1. Make patties:
    • Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, finely chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
    • Shape into oval patties.
  2. Cook patties:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil.
    • Brown patties on both sides (they don’t need to be fully cooked at this stage). Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Make onion gravy:
    • In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions. Cook until soft and caramelized.
    • Sprinkle flour over the onions, stirring to combine. Cook 1–2 minutes.
    • Slowly add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until thickened. Season to taste.
  4. Combine and simmer:
    • Return patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over them.
    • Simmer 10–15 minutes until patties are fully cooked and infused with gravy flavor.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables. Spoon extra onion gravy on top.
