Classic Prawn Cocktail

Ingredients (serves 2–4):

  • 250g cooked prawns/shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2–3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp lemon juice (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Paprika, for garnish

Optional Garnishes:

  • Lemon wedges
  • Fresh parsley or dill

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Sauce:
    In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using). Taste and adjust salt and pepper.
  2. Assemble the Salad:
    • Place chopped lettuce at the bottom of serving glasses or bowls.
    • Add a layer of prawns on top of the lettuce.
  3. Add the Sauce:
    Spoon the sauce over the prawns, making sure they’re well coated.
  4. Garnish & Serve:
    Sprinkle paprika on top and garnish with lemon wedges and fresh herbs if desired. Serve chilled.
