¾ cup granulated sugar

-
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
-
Ground nutmeg (for topping)
🔪 Instructions
-
Preheat the oven:
Set to 400°F (200°C). -
Prepare the crust:
Place your unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan. Crimp or flute the edges if you’d like. -
Mix the custard:
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, salt, milk, and vanilla until smooth and well blended (don’t overbeat—just mix until combined). -
Assemble the pie:
Pour the custard mixture into the unbaked crust.
Lightly sprinkle ground nutmeg on top. -
Bake:
-
Bake at 400°F for 10 minutes.
-
Then reduce heat to 325°F (160°C) and continue baking for 30–35 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
-
-
Cool:
Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
The custard will continue to set as it cools. -
Chill (optional):
For a firmer texture, refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
