Here’s a simple and classic Oatmeal Cookies recipe that’s soft, chewy, and easy to make at home:

Ingredients (makes ~12–15 cookies)

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (or coconut oil for a healthier version)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup raisins, chocolate chips, or nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients:
    • In a bowl, combine oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients:
    • In another bowl, cream together butter and sugars until smooth.
    • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mix well.
  4. Combine:
    • Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
    • Fold in raisins, chocolate chips, or nuts if using.
  5. Shape cookies:
    • Scoop tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
    • Flatten slightly with the back of a spoon or your fingers.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown on the edges.
    • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

✅ Tips:

  • For extra chewiness, slightly underbake the cookies and let them finish setting as they cool.
  • You can add a pinch of nutmeg or ginger for a warm spice flavor.
  • For a healthier version, use whole wheat flour, coconut oil, and reduce sugar slightly.

I can also give you a quick 5-ingredient healthy oatmeal cookie version that’s soft, naturally sweet, and takes just 15 minutes to make. Do you want me to share that?
