Here’s a delicious recipe for Hot Dog Burnt Ends—crispy, caramelized, and perfect as a snack or appetizer 🌭🔥


Hot Dog Burnt Ends

Ingredients

  • 6–8 hot dogs (regular or jumbo)
  • 2–3 tbsp barbecue sauce (your favorite)
  • 1–2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika or chili powder (optional)
  • Toothpicks (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven or smoker
    • Oven: 400°F (200°C)
    • Smoker: 225–250°F (110–120°C)
  2. Prepare hot dogs
    Cut each hot dog into 1–2 inch chunks.
  3. Season & coat
    Toss hot dog pieces with BBQ sauce, brown sugar, and smoked paprika/chili powder if using.
  4. Bake or smoke
    • Oven: Spread on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake 15–20 minutes, then broil 2–3 minutes to caramelize.
    • Smoker: Smoke 1–1.5 hours until slightly charred and caramelized, stirring halfway.
  5. Serve
    Serve warm as-is, with toothpicks, or alongside baked beans, mac & cheese, or sliders.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra sticky: Toss hot dog chunks in sauce halfway through cooking.
  • Cheesy version: Sprinkle shredded cheddar over hot dog ends before the last 5 minutes.
  • Spicy twist: Add sriracha or cayenne to the BBQ sauce.
  • Mini sliders: Use these burnt ends in slider buns for a fun appetizer.
