Honey Garlic Shrimp, Sausage, and Broccoli
Ingredients:
-
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
-
2 sausages (Italian sausage or smoked sausage works great), sliced
-
1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets (or 2 cups of frozen broccoli florets)
-
2 tablespoons olive oil (for sautéing)
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
1 tablespoon butter (optional, for extra richness)
For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 tablespoons honey
-
2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
-
1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
-
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional, but adds a great kick)
-
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions:
-
Prep the Sauce:
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and grated ginger (if using). Set aside.
-
-
Cook the Sausage:
-
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Add the sausage slices and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
-
-
Cook the Broccoli:
-
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil (or butter for extra richness).
-
Add the broccoli florets, season with a pinch of salt and pepper, and sauté for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally. If you’re using frozen broccoli, just sauté for 2-3 minutes, making sure it’s heated through.
-
If needed, add a splash of water to the pan and cover for 2-3 minutes to help the broccoli cook through. Then, remove from the skillet and set aside.
-
-
Cook the Shrimp:
-
Add a little more oil to the pan if needed. Toss in the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque.
-
Once the shrimp are cooked, pour the honey garlic sauce over them and cook for another minute or two, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the shrimp.
-
-
Combine Everything:
-
Return the cooked sausage and broccoli to the skillet with the shrimp. Toss everything together so that the sausage, shrimp, and broccoli are evenly coated in the sauce.
-
Cook for another minute or two to heat everything through, and check for seasoning. Adjust with more salt, pepper, or honey to taste.
-
-
Serve:
-
Serve the honey garlic shrimp, sausage, and broccoli immediately, either on its own or over a bed of rice or pasta for a fuller meal.
-
Pro Tips:
-
For a kick, add a little sriracha or chili paste to the sauce for a spicy version.
-
You can also toss in some fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro for garnish to add freshness.
-
If you like the sauce to be thicker, you can simmer it down a bit longer after adding it to the shrimp, or mix in a teaspoon of cornstarch dissolved in a little water to thicken.
This dish is a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy, and the broccoli adds a nice crunch. It’s one of those meals that feels fancy but is easy to whip up in under 30 minutes! Are you planning to give this one a try soon?
