Honey Garlic Chicken

Ingredients (for 2–3 servings)

  • 1 lb (450 g) chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (for thicker sauce)
  • Optional garnish: sesame seeds and chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Cook the chicken
    • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add chicken pieces, season lightly with pepper, and cook 5–7 minutes per side (depending on thickness) until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. Make the honey garlic sauce
    • In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Stir in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
    • Optional: for a thicker sauce, stir in the cornstarch mixture and simmer until thickened.
  3. Combine
    • Return chicken to the pan, tossing to coat evenly in the sauce. Cook for 1–2 more minutes so the flavors meld.
  4. Serve
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
    • Serve over steamed rice, noodles, or alongside roasted vegetables.
