Homemade Krispy Kremes

Posted on November 19, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a recipe to make homemade Krispy Kreme-style glazed donuts—soft, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth sweet.

🍩 Homemade Krispy Kreme-Style Donuts

Ingredients (makes ~12 donuts)

For the Dough

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 ½ cups (315 g) all-purpose flour, plus more for kneading
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

For Frying

  • 2–3 cups (480–720 ml) vegetable oil or canola oil

For the Glaze

  • 2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tsp sugar. Let sit 5–10 min until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
  3. Add yeast mixture, butter, egg, and vanilla. Mix until dough comes together.
  4. Knead on a floured surface 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled in size.

2. Shape the Donuts

  1. Roll dough to ½-inch thickness.
  2. Cut donuts using a donut cutter or two round cutters (one large, one small for the center hole).
  3. Place donuts on a parchment-lined tray; cover and let rise 30–45 minutes until puffy.

3. Fry the Donuts

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry donuts in batches, 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  3. Drain on paper towels.

4. Make the Glaze

  1. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  2. While donuts are warm, dip the top of each into the glaze.
  3. Let glaze set a few minutes before serving.

Tips

  • For extra fluffiness, let the dough rise slowly in the fridge overnight.
  • You can flavor the glaze with a little maple, chocolate, or cinnamon for variety.
  • Work quickly when frying to keep donuts light and airy.

I can also give you a baked version that’s lower in oil but still very close to the Krispy Kreme texture. Do you want me to do that?
