Homemade chocolate cobbler

Posted on December 23, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a warm, gooey homemade chocolate cobbler—crispy on top, rich chocolate sauce underneath 🍫✨
It’s easy and perfect served with vanilla ice cream.

Homemade Chocolate Cobbler

Ingredients

Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Topping

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Hot Liquid

  • 1½ cups hot water (or hot coffee for deeper flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Make the batter
In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Spread batter
Pour batter evenly into the prepared dish.
  4. Add topping
In a separate bowl, mix sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder.
    Sprinkle evenly over the batter.
  5. Pour hot water
Carefully pour hot water over everything. Do not stir.
  6. Bake
Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the top looks set and cracked, with sauce bubbling underneath.
  7. Cool slightly & serve
Let rest 10 minutes. Spoon into bowls, making sure to get that rich chocolate sauce.

Serving Ideas

  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
  • Fresh berries
  • A dusting of powdered sugar

Tips

  • Use hot coffee instead of water for a richer chocolate flavor
  • Don’t overbake—the center should be saucy, not dry

If you want, I can also share a small-batch version, gluten-free option, or extra-fudgy twist 😄
