Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Hamburger Potato Casserole 🍔🥔—a hearty, comforting dish that’s perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt, or to taste
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: ½ cup sour cream for extra creaminess

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the beef:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with chopped onions.
    • Drain excess fat.
  3. Prepare the sauce:
    • In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
    • Optional: stir in sour cream for a richer texture.
  4. Layer the casserole:
    • In a greased baking dish, place half of the sliced potatoes.
    • Spread half of the cooked beef and onions on top.
    • Pour half of the soup mixture over the layer.
    • Repeat with remaining potatoes, beef, and soup.
  5. Add cheese:
    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar on top.
  6. Bake:
    • Cover with foil and bake 45–50 minutes, until potatoes are tender.
    • Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes to melt and slightly brown the cheese.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!

  • Thinner potato slices cook faster and more evenly.
  • Add frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn) for extra nutrition.
  • Use mozzarella or pepper jack cheese for a different flavor twist.
