Here’s a hearty and comforting Hamburger Casserole recipe—easy to make, full of flavor, and perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 1 lb (≈450 g) ground beef

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, etc.)

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)

  • ½ cup milk

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 2 cups cooked pasta, rice, or diced potatoes

  • 1–1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • Optional: ½ tsp paprika or Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Cook Beef Mixture

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until beef is browned and onions are softened. Drain excess fat.

    • Stir in frozen vegetables, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

  3. Make Sauce

    • In a small bowl, mix the condensed soup with milk until smooth.

    • Pour over the beef-vegetable mixture and stir to combine.

  4. Assemble Casserole

    • In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer cooked pasta, rice, or potatoes.

    • Pour beef mixture over it and spread evenly.

    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.

  5. Bake

    • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  6. Serve

    • Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Optional: garnish with chopped parsley or green onions.

Tips & Variations

  • Vegetarian Option: Swap ground beef for cooked lentils or plant-based crumbles.

  • Extra Creamy: Stir ½ cup sour cream into the beef mixture before baking.

  • Cheesy Twist: Mix ½ cup grated Parmesan with cheddar for extra flavor.

  • Make Ahead: Assemble in advance, cover, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.

If you want, I can also give a one-pan skillet version that makes this hamburger casserole in about 20 minutes, no oven needed.
