Ingredients (serves 4):

For the ground beef & gravy:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1-2 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1-2 tbsp oil or butter

For the mashed potatoes:

  • 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup milk (adjust for desired creaminess)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Make the mashed potatoes:

  1. Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15–20 minutes).
  2. Drain and return to the pot.
  3. Mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until creamy. Set aside and keep warm.

2. Make the ground beef & gravy:

  1. In a skillet, heat oil or butter over medium heat.
  2. Add onions and garlic; sauté until soft.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir to combine; cook 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps.
  6. Add Worcestershire sauce if using, and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Simmer for 5–10 minutes until gravy thickens.

3. Serve:

  • Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates and top with the beef and gravy mixture.

Optional: Sprinkle chopped parsley for garnish.
