Butter the bread:
Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. -
Assemble the sandwich:
Place one slice, butter-side down, in a skillet. Add cheese on top, then cover with the second slice, butter-side up. -
Grill it:
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Cook the sandwich for about 2β3 minutes per side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. -
Slice and serve:
Let it rest for a minute, then slice in half (diagonally if you want the classic look).
