π§ Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich
π Ingredients (makes 1 sandwich)
-
2 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
-
2β3 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, Swiss, or a combo)
-
1β2 tbsp butter (softened) β or mayo for toasting
π³ Instructions
-
Butter the bread:
Spread butter (or mayo) evenly on one side of each bread slice. These sides will face outward. -
Assemble:
Place cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread, buttered sides facing out. -
Cook:
Heat a skillet over medium heat.
Place the sandwich in the pan and cook until the bottom is golden brown and crisp β about 2β3 minutes.
Flip carefully and cook the other side until golden and the cheese melts β another 2β3 minutes.
(If the bread browns too quickly, lower the heat so the cheese can melt.) -
Serve:
Slice in half and enjoy warm β great with tomato soup or pickles on the side.
