Garlic Butter Honey BBQ Chicken Tacos

Posted on November 22, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a flavor-packed, slightly sweet and garlicky taco recipe: Garlic Butter Honey BBQ Chicken Tacos. Quick, easy, and addictive.

Ingredients (serves 3–4)

For the chicken:

  • 1 lb (450 g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the tacos:

  • 6–8 small flour or corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce or cabbage
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes or pico de gallo
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or mozzarella)
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

1. Cook the chicken

  1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté garlic until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  3. Add the chicken and cook 5–6 minutes per side until fully cooked and golden.

2. Add the sauce

  1. Lower the heat and stir in BBQ sauce and honey.
  2. Coat the chicken well and cook for another 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and let it rest for 2–3 minutes, then slice or shred the chicken.

3. Assemble the tacos

  1. Warm the tortillas in a skillet or microwave.
  2. Layer each tortilla with lettuce or cabbage, sliced/shredded chicken, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese.
  3. Garnish with fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra punch, drizzle a little more honey or a touch of sriracha over the finished tacos.
  • You can make this ahead of time and reheat; the garlic butter BBQ sauce keeps the chicken moist.
  • Add pickled onions or jalapeños for tangy heat.

If you want, I can also create a sheet-pan version where you bake the chicken in the sauce and warm tortillas all at once—super fast cleanup. Do you want me to do that?
