Here’s a crispy, savory Fried Onion Fritters recipe 🧅✨ — great as a snack, appetizer, or side.


Fried Onion Fritters

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup milk (or water)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika or chili powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp baking powder (for lightness)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Prepare onions
    Separate sliced onions into strands and pat dry.
  2. Make batter
    In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and paprika.
    Add egg and milk; mix until smooth and thick enough to coat onions.
  3. Combine
    Fold onions into the batter until well coated.
  4. Heat oil
    Heat oil in a deep skillet to about 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry
    Drop spoonfuls of onion mixture into hot oil.
    Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Drain & serve
    Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
    Serve hot.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra crispy: Replace ¼ cup flour with cornstarch
  • Spiced: Add cumin, garlic powder, or cayenne
  • Herbed: Mix in chopped parsley or green onions
  • Dips: Ranch, garlic aioli, or spicy ketchup
