🧀 Fried Halloumi Cheese Bites

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 8 oz (225 g) halloumi cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: pinch of chili flakes or garlic powder
  • 2–3 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil

Optional dipping sauces:

  • Honey or hot honey
  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Lemon yogurt sauce

Instructions

  1. Prep the halloumi
    • Pat halloumi dry with paper towels.
    • Cut into bite-sized cubes or sticks.
  2. Coat
    • Mix flour, paprika, pepper, and optional seasonings.
    • Lightly coat halloumi pieces, shaking off excess flour.
  3. Fry
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Fry halloumi in batches for 1–2 minutes per side until golden and crisp.
  4. Drain & serve
    • Transfer to paper towels.
    • Serve immediately while hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

💡 Tips

  • Halloumi doesn’t melt like other cheeses—perfect for frying.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan or the cheese won’t crisp properly.
  • Serve right away for best texture.

🔥 Variations

  • Crispy breadcrumb version: Dip halloumi in egg, then panko, then fry.
  • Air fryer: Spray lightly with oil and air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway.
  • Mediterranean twist: Finish with lemon zest and fresh oregano.
