Fried egg

A fried egg is one of the simplest and most popular ways to cook an egg. It’s made by cracking an egg into a hot pan and frying it in a little oil or butter. 🍳


Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon butter or cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Heat the pan
    • Place a skillet on medium heat and add butter or oil.
  2. Crack the egg
    • Crack the egg into a small bowl first, then gently slide it into the pan.
  3. Cook the egg
    • Let the egg cook until the white becomes firm.
  4. Choose your style
    • Sunny-side up: Cook without flipping; yolk stays runny.
    • Over easy: Flip once and cook about 10–15 seconds.
    • Over medium: Flip and cook 30–60 seconds.
    • Over hard: Flip and cook until yolk is fully firm.
  5. Season and serve
    • Sprinkle with salt and pepper and serve immediately.

Tips for a Perfect Fried Egg

  • Use a non-stick pan for easier cooking.
  • Cook on medium or low heat so the egg doesn’t burn.
  • Cover the pan briefly if you want the top of the white cooked without flipping.
