Here’s a simple, healthy, and tasty diet-friendly cake with oats, apples, and raisins you can try. It’s lower in sugar and uses wholesome ingredients:


Ingredients (for 8 servings)

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and grated
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (or a little honey/maple syrup if you want sweetness)
  • 1/4 cup low-fat yogurt (or plant-based yogurt)
  • 1/4 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp oil (optional, for moistness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a small cake pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk applesauce, yogurt, milk, vanilla, and oil (if using).
  4. Combine: Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture. Stir until just combined. Fold in grated apples and raisins.
  5. Bake: Pour batter into the pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool & Serve: Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
