This easy slow-cooker recipe makes tender chicken in a creamy mushroom gravy. It’s comforting, simple, and perfect over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts (or thighs)

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 1 packet onion soup mix (optional but adds flavor)

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (fresh or canned)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Β½ tsp black pepper

  • Β½ tsp paprika

  • Β½ cup sour cream (added at the end for extra creaminess)

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slow cooker
    Place chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot.

  2. Mix the sauce
    In a bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth, garlic, pepper, paprika, and onion soup mix.

  3. Add mushrooms
    Spread sliced mushrooms over the chicken, then pour the sauce mixture on top.

  4. Cook

    • Low: 6–7 hours

    • High: 3–4 hours

  5. Finish creamy sauce
    Stir in the sour cream during the last 10–15 minutes of cooking.

  6. Serve
    Spoon the creamy mushroom sauce over the chicken. Serve with:

    • Rice

    • Egg noodles

    • Mashed potatoes

    • Steamed vegetables

Tips ⭐

  • For thicker gravy, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water and stir in during the last 20 minutes.

  • Add green beans or peas during the last hour for a full one-pot meal.

  • If you like richer flavor, lightly brown the chicken in a pan first before adding to the crockpot.
