Here’s a simple and versatile Crockpot Chicken guide—you can make it savory, saucy, or even creamy depending on your preference.


Basic Crockpot Chicken

Servings: 4–6

Ingredients:

  • 4–6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or ½ cup broth + ½ cup cream for creamy version)
  • Optional add-ins: diced onions, garlic cloves, bell peppers, mushrooms

Instructions:

  1. Prepare chicken:
    • Season chicken with salt, pepper, and spices.
    • Optional: Sear in a skillet 2–3 minutes per side for extra flavor.
  2. Assemble in crockpot:
    • Place chicken in the crockpot.
    • Add vegetables if using.
    • Pour broth (or broth + cream) over chicken.
  3. Cook:
    • Low: 6–7 hours
    • High: 3–4 hours
    • Chicken should reach internal temp of 165°F (74°C) and be tender.
  4. Finish:
    • Remove chicken and shred if desired.
    • Optional: Thicken sauce with 1–2 tsp cornstarch mixed with cold water, simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Serve:
    • Over rice, pasta, potatoes, or with a side of vegetables.

Flavor variations:

  • Creamy Garlic Chicken: Add cream cheese or heavy cream and garlic.
  • BBQ Chicken: Add 1 cup BBQ sauce instead of broth.
  • Italian Chicken: Add diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and olives for a Mediterranean twist.
