Crispy Baked Potatoes

🥔 Crispy Baked Potatoes (Perfectly Crunchy Skin, Fluffy Inside)

This method gives you restaurant-style crispy skin and soft, fluffy centers every time.


🛒 Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1–2 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

2️⃣ Prep potatoes

  • Scrub clean and dry completely (dry skin = crispier skin).
  • Pierce each potato 4–5 times with a fork.

3️⃣ Oil & salt

  • Rub each potato with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle generously with kosher salt (this is key for crispy skin).

4️⃣ Bake directly on rack

  • Place potatoes directly on oven rack.
  • Put a baking sheet on lower rack to catch drips.
  • Bake 45–60 minutes, until fork-tender and skin is crisp.

5️⃣ Steam finish (secret step)

  • Remove from oven.
  • Immediately slice open and gently squeeze ends to fluff inside.

🔥 Extra Crispy Trick

For even crispier skin:

  • After baking, brush lightly with more oil.
  • Return to oven for 10 more minutes.

  • Butter + sour cream
  • Cheddar + bacon bits + green onions
  • Chili + cheese
  • Broccoli + cheese sauce
  • Garlic herb butter

💡 Air Fryer Version

  • 400°F for 35–45 minutes, turning halfway.
