Cowboy butter shrimp

Posted on December 19, 2025 by Admin

Ah! “Cowboy butter shrimp” sounds like a rich, garlicky, buttery shrimp dish often served with bread, rice, or pasta. I can give you a simple recipe for it. Here’s a version that’s flavorful but easy to make:

Cowboy Butter Shrimp Recipe

Ingredients (serves 2–4):

  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1–2 tsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1–2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prep the shrimp: Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt, pepper, and 1 tsp of Cajun seasoning.
  2. Cook the shrimp:
    • In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium-high heat.
    • Add shrimp in a single layer and cook 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and just cooked through. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  3. Make cowboy butter sauce:
    • In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp butter.
    • Add minced garlic, smoked paprika, remaining Cajun seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Sauté 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
    • Stir in lemon juice and chopped parsley.
  4. Combine and serve:
    • Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the butter sauce.
    • Serve immediately over rice, pasta, or with crusty bread.

💡 Tip: For extra flavor, you can add a splash of white wine or Worcestershire sauce to the butter sauce.

If you want, I can also give a super quick version for weeknight dinners that’s ready in under 15 minutes. Do you want me to do that?
