Here are a few easy, reliable ways to cook chicken breasts, depending on what texture and flavor you want. All methods give juicy, fully cooked chicken (165°F / 74°C internal temp).


Basic Pan-Seared Chicken Breasts (Juicy & Quick)

Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1–2 tbsp oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken dry and season both sides.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook 5–6 minutes per side (thicker breasts may need a little longer).
  4. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.

✅ Best for salads, sandwiches, and meal prep.


Oven-Baked Chicken Breasts (Hands-Off)

Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts
  • Olive oil
  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
  2. Rub chicken with oil and season.
  3. Bake 20–25 minutes, uncovered.
  4. Rest 5 minutes before serving.

Boiled / Poached Chicken Breasts (Very Tender)

Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts
  • Water or broth
  • Salt, onion, garlic (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken in pot and cover with liquid.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to simmer.
  3. Cook 12–15 minutes.
  4. Rest in the liquid 5 minutes, then shred or slice.

✅ Best for shredding, soups, casseroles.


Slow Cooker Chicken Breasts (Set & Forget)

Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts
  • ½ cup broth
  • Seasonings of choice

Instructions

  1. Place everything in slow cooker.
  2. Cook LOW 3–4 hours or HIGH 1½–2 hours.
  3. Shred or serve whole.

✅ Best for tacos, wraps, and meal prep.

  • Garlic butter: Butter + garlic + parsley
  • BBQ: Brush with sauce last 10 minutes
  • Lemon herb: Lemon juice, olive oil, thyme
  • Soul food style: Paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper
