  1. Bake the Cake
    • Prepare cake according to package directions.
    • Bake in two 9-inch round pans (or one 9Ɨ13-inch pan).
    • Let cakes cool completely.
  2. Prepare Chocolate Ganache
    • Heat heavy cream until just simmering.
    • Pour over chocolate chips and butter.
    • Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  3. Assemble the Cake
    • Place first cake layer on a serving plate.
    • Drizzle generously with caramel sauce.
    • Sprinkle with chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
    • Place second cake layer on top.

    • Drizzle more caramel sauce and sprinkle extra pecans on top.
  5. Set & Serve
    • Let cake set 20–30 minutes before slicing.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra gooey: Poke holes in the cake layers and pour caramel into them.
  • Sheet cake option: Bake in a 9Ɨ13 pan and layer everything on top.
  • Nut swap: Use walnuts if pecans aren’t available.
  • Shortcut: Use jarred caramel and canned frosting for super fast prep.
