Chicken Cordon Bleu

Posted on March 3, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe — crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor 🐔🧀🥓:

🍗 Chicken Cordon Bleu

🛒 Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices ham
  • 4 slices Swiss or Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works great for extra crunch)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2–3 tbsp butter or oil for frying

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Chicken

  1. Slice chicken breasts horizontally to create a pocket (or butterfly them).
  2. Season inside and out with salt and pepper.
  3. Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese inside each chicken breast.
  4. Fold or roll the chicken to enclose the filling.

2️⃣ Bread the Chicken

  1. Dredge each chicken roll in flour, shaking off excess.
  2. Dip in beaten eggs.
  3. Coat with breadcrumbs evenly.

3️⃣ Cook

Option 1: Oven-Baked (Healthier)

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place chicken on a greased baking sheet.
  • Bake 25–30 minutes until golden and cooked through (165°F / 74°C).

Option 2: Pan-Fried (Crispier)

  • Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook chicken 5–7 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Finish in the oven if needed for thicker breasts.

4️⃣ Serve

  • Slice carefully to show the ham & cheese spiral.
  • Optional: Serve with Dijon mustard sauce or creamy mushroom sauce.
  • Goes well with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.

🌟 Tips

  • Prevent cheese leaks: Secure with toothpicks if needed.
  • Extra flavor: Add a sprinkle of paprika or garlic powder to breadcrumbs.
  • Make ahead: Assemble chicken rolls and refrigerate for a few hours before cooking.

If you want, I can also give a slow cooker version of Chicken Cordon Bleu that’s creamy, tender, and hands-off for busy nights.

Do you want me to do that?
