Posted on November 26, 2025 by Admin

Here’s an easy, irresistibly soft Cheesy Skillet Bread — golden, buttery, and loaded with melted cheese. Perfect as a side for pasta, soup, or dipping in sauces.

🧀 Cheesy Skillet Bread

Ingredients (serves 6–8)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional but great)
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese (or mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1–2 tbsp chopped parsley or chives (optional)
  • 2–3 tbsp additional cheese for topping

Instructions

1. Prep

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Grease a 10–12 inch cast iron skillet (or oven-safe pan) with butter or oil.

2. Mix the Batter

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  2. Stir in 1 cup of cheese.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg, and melted butter.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir just until combined (do not overmix).

3. Bake

  1. Pour batter into the prepared skillet.
  2. Sprinkle the extra cheese over the top.
  3. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

4. Serve

Let cool slightly, slice into wedges, and serve warm.
