Cheddar biscuits

Posted on October 24, 2025 by Admin
Cheddar biscuits are warm, flaky, cheesy drop biscuits — kind of like savory scones — that go great with soups, chili, fried chicken, or just a pat of butter. 🧈🧀

Here’s an easy Cheddar Biscuit Recipe you can try:

🧀 Cheddar Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, for balance)

  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • ¾ cup cold milk or buttermilk

  • (Optional) 1 tbsp chopped chives or parsley for flavor

For topping (optional but delicious):

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • A pinch of parsley flakes

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.

  3. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs (some pea-sized butter bits are fine — they make the biscuits flaky!).

  4. Stir in the cheddar cheese (and herbs if using).

  5. Add the milk and stir just until combined — don’t overmix.

  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough (about ¼ cup each) onto the prepared baking sheet.

  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown on top.

  8. Brush tops with melted butter mixed with garlic powder and parsley while still warm.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions

Serve warm with:

  • Soups (like tomato or broccoli cheddar)

  • Fried chicken or barbecue

  • Breakfast eggs and bacon

Would you like me to give you a Red Lobster–style cheddar biscuit version (the kind that’s extra buttery and garlicky)?
