Catch a husband cake

Posted on January 5, 2026January 23, 2026 by Admin

Here’s the classic Catch-A-Husband Cake 🍰 — a rich, old-fashioned cake that’s been shared for generations. Moist, buttery, and very easy to love.

Catch-A-Husband Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans are traditional)
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup crushed pineapple (with juice)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

No butter or oil needed — the fruit keeps it moist!

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add mix-ins
    Stir in nuts and raisins.
  4. Add wet ingredients
Add eggs, crushed pineapple with juice, and vanilla.
Mix just until combined (batter will be thick).
  5. Bake
Spread batter evenly in the pan.
Bake 35–40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool & serve
Cool slightly before cutting. Serve plain or warm.

Optional Toppings

  • Dust with powdered sugar
  • Cream cheese frosting
  • Vanilla glaze
  • Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream

Why it’s famous

  • Super moist
  • No mixer required
  • Travels well
  • Old-school charm that shows up at potlucks, church dinners, and family gatherings

If you want, I can give you a Southern caramel-iced version, a bundt cake style, or a modern pineapple-banana twist 😄
