Candied Kielbasa

Ingredients (serves 6–8)

  • 1 lb kielbasa sausage, sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon or yellow mustard (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter (optional, for extra richness)

Instructions

  1. Prep sausage
    • Slice kielbasa into rounds about ½ inch thick.
  2. Cook sausage
    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add sausage and cook 3–4 minutes per side until lightly browned.
  3. Add glaze
    • Reduce heat to low.
    • Stir in brown sugar, honey, and mustard (if using).
    • Toss sausage to coat evenly. Cook 3–5 more minutes, stirring frequently, until glaze thickens and coats sausage.
  4. Optional finish
    • Stir in butter for a richer, glossy finish.
  5. Serve
    • Serve warm as an appetizer with toothpicks, or over rice or potatoes as a main dish.

Tips & Variations

  • Spicy: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the glaze.
  • Sweet twist: Add a splash of pineapple juice for a tropical flavor.
  • Make ahead: Cook sausage ahead, then reheat in glaze just before serving.
  • Oven version: Spread glazed sausage on a baking sheet and broil 3–5 minutes for extra caramelization.
