Ohhh yes — baked pierogies in a sweet-savory glaze with onions is next-level comfort. This version gives you caramelized edges, sticky glaze, and soft centers. Perfect side dish or hearty main.


🥟 Glazed Baked Pierogies with Caramelized Onions

Ingredients

  • 2 bags frozen potato & cheddar pierogies (no need to thaw)
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Glaze

  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Optional: splash of maple syrup for extra depth

Instructions

1️⃣ Caramelize the onions

  • In a skillet over medium-low heat, cook onions with butter and olive oil.
  • Stir occasionally for 20–25 minutes until deep golden and soft.
  • Season lightly with salt.

2️⃣ Prep the glaze

Whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, Dijon, vinegar, paprika, and pepper.

3️⃣ Assemble

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Toss pierogies with half the glaze.
  • Spread in a large baking dish.
  • Scatter caramelized onions over top.
  • Drizzle remaining glaze evenly.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes.
  • Flip once halfway through so both sides get golden.
  • Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end if you want crisp edges.
