Here’s a simple, delicious recipe for Baked Apple Fritters—all the flavor of fried fritters but lighter and baked in the oven.

Ingredients (makes about 8 fritters)

  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

For the glaze (optional):

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 teaspoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Mix dry ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. Mix wet ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter.
  4. Combine and fold in apples
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the diced apples. The batter will be thick.
  5. Spoon fritters
Drop spoonfuls of batter (about 1/4 cup each) onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  6. Bake
Bake for 18–22 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool slightly.
  7. Optional glaze
In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm fritters before serving.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra crisp edges, spray the tops lightly with cooking spray before baking.
  • Add a pinch of cardamom or ginger to the batter for a warm spice twist.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent treat.

If you want, I can also give you a quick one-bowl version that takes under 30 minutes total and is perfect for last-minute cravings. Do you want me to do that?
