Here’s a simple, perfect Bacon Sandwich—classic, crispy, salty, and satisfying. You can make it British-style (a “bacon butty”) or American-style with lettuce/tomato if you want. Here’s the classic version:


🥓 Classic Bacon Sandwich (Bacon Butty)

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 4–6 slices bacon (streaky or back bacon)
  • 2 slices bread (white, brioche, sourdough, or a soft roll)
  • Butter (optional but highly recommended)
  • Sauce of choice:
    • Ketchup
    • Brown sauce (HP Sauce)
    • Mayo (optional)

🍳 Instructions

1. Cook the bacon

Pan method:

  • Heat a skillet over medium.
  • Add bacon and cook until crispy or to your preferred doneness.
  • Drain on paper towels.

Oven method (extra crisp, less mess):

  • Lay bacon on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–18 minutes until crisp.

Air fryer:

  • 375°F (190°C) for 7–10 minutes.

2. Prepare the bread

  • Lightly toast or leave soft—your choice.
  • Butter the inside of each slice (adds richness and prevents sogginess).

3. Build the sandwich

  • Layer bacon generously on the bread.
  • Add your preferred sauce (ketchup or brown sauce = classic).
  • Top with the second slice of bread.

Press gently and slice if desired.

  • Lettuce & tomato → makes it BLT-style
  • Cheese slices → melt slightly for a bacon grilled cheese
  • Fried egg → turns it into a bacon & egg butty
  • Avocado for a creamy twist
  • Caramelized onions for extra flavor

Best served hot, with a mug of coffee or tea.
