Bacon ranch cheese ball

Posted on January 11, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Bacon Ranch Cheese Ball recipe—creamy, tangy, and loaded with bacon and cheddar 🧀🥓 Perfect for parties or snacking!

Bacon Ranch Cheese Ball

Ingredients (makes 1 medium cheese ball, about 8–10 servings)

  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2–3 tsp ranch seasoning (or 1 packet)
  • 6–8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 2–3 green onions, finely chopped (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional, for coating)
  • Extra crumbled bacon and chopped herbs (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Mix the cheese ball

  • In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheddar, sour cream, ranch seasoning, and chopped green onions (if using).
  • Stir until smooth and fully combined.

2. Add bacon

  • Fold in most of the crumbled bacon, reserving a few tablespoons for the coating/garnish.

3. Shape the ball

  • Use a spatula or hands to form mixture into a ball.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour to firm up.

4. Coat the cheese ball

  • Roll the chilled cheese ball in chopped nuts, extra bacon, or chopped fresh herbs, pressing lightly so it sticks.

5. Serve

  • Place on a platter and serve with crackers, sliced baguette, or fresh veggies.

Tips for the Best Cheese Ball

  • Softened cream cheese is essential for a smooth texture.
  • Chill before serving to make slicing or scooping easier.
  • Mix-ins: Chopped red bell pepper, jalapeños, or chives add flavor and color.
  • Can be made a day ahead—flavors meld beautifully overnight.

Variations

  • Buffalo Ranch Cheese Ball: Add 2–3 tbsp hot sauce to the mix
  • Herb & Garlic: Replace ranch with garlic powder + Italian herbs
  • Cheddar & Jalapeño: Add finely diced jalapeños for a kick

If you want, I can also give a “super creamy, ultra-bacon-loaded” version that’s perfect for holidays or game day, which spreads easily without breaking apart.

Do you want me to do that version?
