Apple puree

Here’s a simple, classic Apple Purée—smooth, naturally sweet, and very versatile 🍎


Apple Purée

Ingredients

  • 4–5 apples (any variety; Granny Smith + Gala is a nice balance)
  • ½ cup water (or apple juice)
  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp sugar or honey
  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon or splash of lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare apples
    • Peel, core, and chop apples into chunks.
  2. Cook
    • Place apples and water in a saucepan.
    • Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
    • Cover and cook 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are very soft.
  3. Purée
    • Blend with an immersion blender or food processor until smooth.
    • Add sweetener or spices if desired.
  4. Cool & store
    • Let cool completely.
    • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 5 days.

Uses

  • Baby food or toddler snacks
  • Baking substitute (oil or butter replacement)
  • Sauce for pork or chicken
  • Stir into oatmeal or yogurt
  • Base for applesauce cake or muffins

Tips

  • No added sugar: Use naturally sweet apples like Fuji or Honeycrisp.
  • Ultra-smooth: Strain through a sieve after blending.
  • Freezer-friendly: Freeze in small portions for up to 3 months.
