Ingredients:

  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Optional: pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon for topping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: 325°F (163°C).
  2. Mix custard:
    • In a large bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla until well combined.
    • Slowly stir in milk.
  3. Prepare baking dish:
    • Pour the mixture into a greased 2-quart baking dish or individual ramekins.
  4. Bake in a water bath:
    • Place the custard dish in a larger pan filled halfway with hot water (water bath).

    • Remove from oven and water bath. Let cool a bit before serving.
