Here’s a hearty and family-friendly Amish Hamburger Steak Bake recipe that’s comforting, cheesy, and easy to make:

Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

Servings: 6 | Cook time: 45–50 minutes

Ingredients

  • Ground beef – 1 lb (450 g)
  • Onion – 1 medium, chopped
  • Garlic powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt & pepper – to taste
  • Frozen hash browns – 1 (30 oz) bag, thawed
  • Cream of mushroom soup – 1 can (10.5 oz)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese – 2 cups, divided
  • Butter – 2 tbsp, melted
  • Optional: parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the Beef:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is soft.
    • Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat.
  3. Assemble the Casserole:
    • Spread thawed hash browns in the prepared baking dish.
    • Layer the cooked beef and onions over the hash browns.
    • Pour cream of mushroom soup evenly over the top.
    • Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle 1½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese over everything.
  4. Bake:
    • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
    • Remove foil, sprinkle the remaining ½ cup cheese, and bake 10–15 more minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve:
    • Garnish with parsley if desired. Serve hot with a side salad or steamed vegetables.

Tips:

  • You can swap cream of mushroom soup for cream of chicken soup if preferred.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers for extra flavor.
  • This casserole is great for make-ahead meals; refrigerate overnight and bake the next day, adding 5–10 extra minutes.

If you want, I can also give a shortcut 3-step Amish Hamburger Steak Bake version that’s ready in 30 minutes with almost no prep. Do you want me to do that?
