Amish Cinnamon Bread

Ahhh, Amish Cinnamon Bread 😍 — the cozy, sugar-crusted kind that makes the whole kitchen smell illegal.

Here’s the classic, no-yeast, super-easy version (it’s more like a cinnamon sugar quick bread):

Amish Cinnamon Bread

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Cinnamon Sugar

  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

How to Make It

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan really well.
  2. Cream sugar + butter until fluffy.
  3. Add egg and buttermilk, mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in flour and baking soda just until combined (don’t overmix).
  5. Mix cinnamon sugar in a small bowl.
  6. Layer it up:
    • Pour half the batter into the pan
    • Sprinkle half the cinnamon sugar
    • Add remaining batter
    • Top with remaining cinnamon sugar
  7. Swirl gently with a knife (don’t go wild).
  8. Bake 45–50 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool a bit before slicing (if you can resist).

Pro Tips

  • Want it extra moist? Swap half the butter for sour cream.
  • Add chopped walnuts or pecans if you’re feeling fancy.
  • Toast slices the next day + butter = elite level breakfast.
