Air fryer potato chips

Crispy, salty, and guilt-free — yes please! 😋
Air Fryer Potato Chips give you that satisfying crunch with way less oil than deep-fried versions. They’re simple, quick, and customizable with your favorite seasonings.

Here’s the perfect homemade air fryer potato chip recipe:

🥔 Air Fryer Potato Chips

Ingredients

  • 2 medium russet potatoes (or Yukon Golds for a softer chip)

  • 1–2 tsp olive oil (just enough to lightly coat)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Optional seasonings:

    • Garlic powder

    • Paprika

    • Chili powder

    • Onion powder

    • Vinegar (for salt & vinegar flavor)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Slice the potatoes

  • Wash and scrub potatoes (you can peel them if you prefer).

  • Slice very thinly — about 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) thick.

Tip: Use a mandoline slicer for even thickness (even chips = even crispiness).

2. Soak

  • Place slices in a bowl of cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch.

This step is key to getting crisp chips!

3. Dry completely

  • Drain and pat the slices dry with paper towels.

  • The drier the better — moisture causes sogginess.

4. Season

  • Toss the slices in a bowl with olive oil and salt (and any spices you like).

  • Make sure each slice is lightly coated.

5. Air fry

  1. Preheat air fryer to 360°F (180°C).

  2. Arrange potato slices in a single layer in the basket (they shouldn’t overlap).

  3. Air fry for 10–15 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through.

    • Keep an eye on them toward the end — thin slices can burn quickly!

6. Cool and crisp

  • Transfer to a wire rack to cool — they’ll crisp up even more as they cool.

  • Season with a little more salt if needed.

🧂 Flavor Ideas

  • Salt & Vinegar: Soak slices in vinegar for 10 minutes before air frying.

  • BBQ: Add smoked paprika, onion powder, and brown sugar.

  • Ranch: Toss with dried dill, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  • Cheesy: Sprinkle with nutritional yeast or grated Parmesan after cooking.

💡 Tips

  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer — cook in batches for best results.

  • If some chips brown faster, remove them early.

  • Store cooled chips in an airtight container for up to 3 days (if they last that long 😄).

Would you like me to give you a sweet potato chip version too? 🍠 (They’re slightly sweeter, super crisp, and amazing with cinnamon or sea salt.)
