Ingredients

  • 2–4 medium russet potatoes
  • 1–2 tsp olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, chives, bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Prep the potatoes:
    • Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly.
    • Pat dry.
    • Pierce each potato 4–5 times with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  2. Season:
    • Rub each potato with olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt.
    • Optional: you can add pepper or garlic powder for extra flavor.
  3. Air fry:
    • Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) (if your model recommends preheating).
    • Place potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
    • Cook for 35–45 minutes, turning halfway through, until the potatoes are tender inside (check by piercing with a fork) and skin is crispy.
  4. Serve:
    • Cut a slit in the top, fluff the inside with a fork, and add desired toppings.

  • Size matters: Medium russets cook fastest. Larger potatoes may need 50 minutes.
  • Crispier skin: Rub with a little extra oil and a pinch of coarse salt.
  • Make multiple: Air fryers work best with 2–4 potatoes at a time without overcrowding.
