Here’s a classic, comforting Apple Pie recipe—golden, sweet, and perfectly spiced:

Ingredients

For the crust (2-crust pie):

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

For the filling:

  • 6–7 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for thicker filling)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional:

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp coarse sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Make the crust:
    • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
    • Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Gradually add ice water, 1 tbsp at a time, until dough holds together.
    • Divide into two discs, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Prepare the filling:
    • In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, flour, and vanilla. Toss gently to coat.
  3. Assemble the pie:
    • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Roll out one disc of dough and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan.
    • Pour the apple mixture into the crust.
    • Roll out the second disc and cover the pie, either whole or as a lattice. Seal edges and trim excess.
    • Cut small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  4. Optional finishing touches:
    • Brush the top crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake another 35–45 minutes until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
    • If edges brown too quickly, cover them with foil.
  6. Cool & serve:
    • Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow the filling to set.

🍎 Tips:

  • Mix tart and sweet apples for depth of flavor.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for the ultimate classic dessert.
  • You can make the crust ahead and freeze it for convenience.

If you want, I can also give you a quick, no-roll version of apple pie that’s much faster but still delicious. Do you want me to do that?
