Baked potato

Here’s a foolproof way to make a perfect baked potato—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside:


Classic Baked Potato

Ingredients (serves 1–4):

  • 1–4 large russet potatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Salt

Optional toppings:

  • Butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, chives, bacon bits, or herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
    • 425°F (220°C)
  2. Prep potatoes:
    • Scrub potatoes clean and pat dry.
    • Prick each potato a few times with a fork.
    • Rub the skin with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
  3. Bake:
    • Place directly on the oven rack (or on a baking sheet).
    • Bake 45–60 minutes, depending on size, until skin is crispy and a fork easily pierces the flesh.
  4. Serve:
    • Cut a slit in the top, fluff the inside with a fork, and add your favorite toppings.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra crispy skin, leave the potatoes uncovered.
  • Microwave shortcut: Cook for 5–10 minutes per potato first, then finish in the oven for 15–20 minutes for a crispier skin.
  • Wrap in foil only if you want softer skin, though it won’t be as crisp.
