🍑 Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler
A true Southern-style classic — warm, syrupy peaches with a buttery, golden crust on top. This version is simple, nostalgic, and tastes like it came from grandma’s kitchen.
🛒 Ingredients
Filling

(or 2 large cans, drained if not in juice) - ¾–1 cup sugar (adjust to sweetness of peaches)
- 1–2 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp cinnamon (optional)
- ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1–2 tbsp cornstarch (for thicker filling)
Cobbler Batter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup (1 stick) butter
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
🔥 Instructions

- Prepare peaches
In a bowl, mix sliced peaches with sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, spices, and cornstarch. Let sit 10–15 minutes. - Melt butter

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and milk until smooth. - Assemble (Do NOT Stir!)
- Pour batter evenly over melted butter.
- Spoon peaches and juices over batter.
- Do not mix — the magic happens while baking.
- Bake
40–50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. - Rest
Let cool 10–15 minutes before serving (it thickens as it sits).
🍨 Serve With
- Vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream
- Or just eat it warm straight from the dish
🍑 Fresh vs Canned Peaches
- Fresh = brighter flavor
- Canned = more syrupy, nostalgic taste
- Frozen = works great (thaw and drain first)
