Deviled ham salad

Posted on February 7, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic and easy recipe for deviled ham salad—creamy, tangy, and perfect for sandwiches, crackers, or a quick snack.

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 1 can (about 7 oz) chopped ham or 1 cup finely chopped cooked ham
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard (or Dijon for a little kick)
  • 1 teaspoon sweet pickle relish (optional, for a little sweetness)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or onion powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 hard-boiled egg, chopped, for extra creaminess

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, mix the chopped ham, mayonnaise, mustard, and relish (if using).
  2. Season:
    • Add garlic/onion powder, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust as needed.
  3. Optional addition:
    • Fold in chopped hard-boiled egg for a richer, creamier salad.
  4. Chill:
    • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.
  5. Serve:
    • Spread on sandwiches, toast, crackers, or enjoy as a dip with veggies.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or a teaspoon of pickle juice.
  • If you like it chunky, keep the ham coarsely chopped; for smoother spread, pulse it briefly in a food processor.
  • Keeps in the fridge for 3–4 days in an airtight container.

I can also give you a retro “Deviled Ham from a can” style version that’s almost identical to the classic 1950s deli flavor if you want that nostalgic taste. Do you want me to make that version too?
