Nilla Wafers Best Banana Pudding

Posted on January 3, 2026 by Admin

Nilla Wafers – Best Classic Banana Pudding 🍌🍮
This is the creamy, old-fashioned, crowd-favorite banana pudding—layers of vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and Nilla Wafers that soften perfectly.

⭐ Best Nilla Wafer Banana Pudding (Classic Style)

Ingredients

  • 1 box Nilla Wafers
  • 4–5 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1½ cups cold water
  • 1 (5 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make pudding base
    • Whisk condensed milk and cold water until smooth.
    • Add pudding mix and whisk for 2 minutes.
    • Chill for 5 minutes until slightly thick.
  2. Whip cream
    • Beat heavy cream and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
    • Gently fold whipped cream into pudding mixture.
  3. Layer
    • In a dish, layer Nilla Wafers → banana slices → pudding.
    • Repeat layers, finishing with pudding on top.
  4. Chill
    • Refrigerate at least 4 hours (overnight is best).

Why This Is “The Best”

  • Super creamy (no eggy custard)
  • Wafers soften but don’t fall apart
  • Balanced sweetness
  • Perfect banana flavor without being mushy

Pro Tips 🍌

  • Use ripe but firm bananas (yellow with a few spots)
  • Slice bananas right before layering to prevent browning
  • For extra flavor, brush bananas lightly with lemon juice (very little!)

Variations

  • Baked top: Add a meringue and bake until golden
  • Extra rich: Add 4 oz cream cheese to pudding base
  • Mini cups: Perfect for parties or school events

If you want, I can give you:

  • The Southern custard-style version
  • A no-mixer shortcut
  • Or a school / potluck large-batch version
